Job Description Job Description Salary: THE ROLE The Literacy
Fellow role is a high-impact, early-career pathway designed to
build deep expertise in the science of reading. Fellows receive
intensive, research-based training that prepares them to support
scholars from their first day in the classroom. In the first six
months, Fellows complete both LETRS and Orton-Gillingham training,
gaining the knowledge and tools needed to deliver explicit
foundational skills instruction and high-quality intervention. In
the second year, Fellows step into co-teacher roles and work
alongside experienced lead teachers who model strong instructional
practices. Fellows apply their training through daily small-group
instruction, targeted intervention, and shared responsibility for
delivering rigorous, joyful reading lessons. Fellows may also
choose to enroll in Relay Graduate School of Education to earn a
Masters degree while continuing to build their craft. This
two-school year Fellowship builds a pipeline of highly skilled
literacy educators who are grounded in structured literacy,
responsive intervention, and the instructional systems that drive
strong reading outcomes. THE PERSON As a Literacy Fellow, you will:
Support lead teachers in delivering high-quality, small-group
reading instruction and intervention during the school day for
scholars in Grades 24. Plan and implement targeted literacy lessons
under the guidance of the lead teacher and instructional coach. Use
data to inform instruction, track scholar progress, and adjust
support to ensure measurable growth. Build strong relationships
with scholars and families to create a joyful, inclusive learning
environment. Reinforce school-wide systems for scholar engagement,
behavior, and academic excellence. Collaborate closely with
instructional teams to ensure alignment between Tier-1 instruction
and small-group intervention. Participate in ongoing professional
development and coaching, including training in the Science of
Reading and Orton-Gillingham practices. Demonstrate a growth
mindset and commitment to developing the instructional skills
necessary to advance into a Co-Teacher role the following year. THE
MUST HAVES Prior Experience Bachelors degree preferred (Education,
Early Childhood, or related field preferred; progress toward
certification accepted). Experience working with children in an
academic or enrichment setting; teaching experience not required.
Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and a passion for
helping scholars become confident, proficient readers. Work Demands
Schedule: 7:15 a.m.3:45 p.m., Monday through Friday (with
occasional professional development or school events). THE PATHWAY
Literacy Fellows will serve in Grades 2 to 4 during the 2025 to
2026 school year and transition into Co-Teacher roles in 2026 to
2027. Transition to a Co-Teacher role requires demonstrated
instructional skill, growth mindset, reliability, and strong
collaboration following successful completion of LETRS and OG
