Job Title: CT Technologist Profession: CT Tech Specialty: Imaging Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1 year in Radiology required, less than 1 year in CT preferred License: ARRT Radiography, ARRT Computed Tomography Certifications: Basic Life Support or equivalent Must-Have: Excellent communication skills, ability to perform independently and under pressure Description: Must be flexible with work hours to meet department needs. Must be dependable, accountable, and cooperative. Assists with providing safe, age-appropriate care to patients by performing all exams according to established procedures. Has the knowledge and ability to properly and safely obtain a quality diagnostic study. Responsible for performing a wide variety of technical procedures requiring independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative. Able to independently perform job functions. Sets up equipment to provide imaging service and positions patients for procedures. Verifies proper clinician order for procedures. Obtains complete clinical history and assesses for contraindicating conditions. Follows established procedures for the administration of contrast media. Ensures that all studies have proper patient identification and markers are utilized appropriately. Reviews CT/radiographic images for clinically acceptable results and releases patients. Responds to emergency situations and assists with the restocking of emergency equipment. Assists other technologists in all modalities when needed. Observes patient condition and evaluates situations when physician intervention is necessary. Verifies correct identity of patients using two unique identifiers prior to performing a procedure. Ensures patient privacy and comfort, maintaining dignity throughout the exam. Demonstrates competence in determining appropriate procedures and techniques based on patient age. Organizes schedule, time, and priorities to accomplish required activities within designated time frames. Follows physician instructions when assisting with procedures and exams. Demonstrates proficiency with loading and operating power injection. Uses critical thinking skills and communicates effectively with patients and their families. Participates in the orientation and training of departmental employees. Provides patients with preparatory instructions and explanations of procedures. Ensures that documentation is concise and legible. Reads emails daily and follows through with assigned tasks. Completes mandatory departmental and educational training without prompting. Produces acceptable images consistently, as evidenced by feedback and audits. Ensures that equipment is operational prior to each use. Sends studies to PACS immediately after completion. Completes all studies in the required system before finalizing. Restocks supplies and maintains department cleanliness. Transports and positions patients and assists them on and off procedure tables. Performs patient charging on the day of service. Applies shielding and maintains a safe environment. Lends knowledge and assistance to others as needed. Performs routine clerical duties to ensure continuity of services. Keeps supervisor informed of responsibilities and any potential issues. Maintains an individual productivity rate comparable to co-workers. Operates all workstations associated with the department effectively. Maintains compliance with all regulatory standards. Takes on-call duties as necessary. Performs other duties as assigned. Complies with all policies, standards of work, and code of conduct. Must exhibit excellent communication skills due to the requirement for frequent interaction with physicians, patients, and staff. Must possess the ability to function independently while actively participating in a team environment. Must be committed to providing excellent customer service at all times. Ability to prioritize and multi-task effectively throughout the work shift. Must have a solid understanding of anatomy and pathology as it relates to imaging quality. Competent to perform quality control tests as recommended.
