Registered Nurse (RN) | Emergency Room (ER) / Trauma Location: Macon, GA Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $1,894 per week Shift Information: Nights - 3 days x 12 hours Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: ASAP About the Position Job Title: RN - Emergency Department Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Emergency Department Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Night Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 2 years of ED RN experience required License: Current RN License Certifications: - BLS (Basic Life Support) required - BCR (Basic Cardiac Rhythm) required; traveler will be required to pass an EKG competency exam as part of compliance - ACLS - PALS - TNCC - National certification in Emergency Nursing preferred but not required Must-Have: - Level 1 Trauma experience in Emergency Room nursing - Experience with drips: Heparin, Insulin, Cardene, Dopamine, Epinephrine, Fentanyl, Propofol, Levophed Description: This position is for a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department. The facility has 637 licensed beds and a Level 1 Trauma designation. It is a teaching hospital and designated as a Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center. The unit has 61 beds plus surge beds with a census of 61. The patient population includes those presenting with chest pain, strokes, diabetes, abdominal pain, motor vehicle collisions, hypertension, stabbings, and mental health issues. Patient ratios are typically RN: 1:4 depending on the assigned zone, with LPNs and CNAs also supporting the department. CNA support includes assistance with vital signs, glucose checks, bathing, feeding, ambulation, patient transport, and hourly rounding. The unit has a charge nurse and unit secretary, as well as phlebotomy services. There is a dedicated IV/VAT team and a 24/7 respiratory therapist, hospitalist, and intensivist available. Central telemetry monitoring for patients is provided in the emergency room. The department uses EMR systems and various medical equipment such as IV pumps, vital sign monitors, and portable oxygen systems. There is a requirement for RN to float within the Emergency Department as needed. Scheduling includes a weekend rotation of approximately 5-6 weekend shifts out of 12 in a 6-week schedule. Expectations include working one shift on each major holiday. Requests for time off require manager approval. Unit culture emphasizes teamwork in a busy environment. Scrub colors are navy for RNs and ceil blue for LPNs. Free parking is available around the campus.
